Hey Joomla Chicago readers. A friend sent me a link to a great article about leading CMS platforms for creating online communities. Joomla was praised very highly and given the #1 slot, with Drupal a mean #2.
The article has some interesting points about membership lifecycles and Web 2.0 sites. This would be a great resource to share with your clients as well.

Good idea Joe, would be interesting to see how Joomla compares up some of the $$$ CMS systems.

Several months ago, Joomla Chicago did a session at one of our montly meetings comparing the two leading open source content management systems (CMS) -- Joomla and Drupal. Your post has led me to wonder if it might not be interesting to do a follow-up session to compare two different online community platforms? (Just for a little variety, and because I'm a jive hep-cat, how about a comparison of Joomla and Jive's ClearSpace Community (#10 on your list). That might tease out some interesting distinctions between an open-source and an enterprise solution.)
