JoomlaChicago User Group Launches in Chicago's Loop
CHICAGO: Less than two years ago, the word "Joomla" was only of significance to those who knew a bit of Swahili language. Meaning "All Together." Today, folks in the technology sector are fast-learning a little Swahili, as "Joomla" now describes what has quickly become the fastest-growing Open Source content management software solutions on the planet.
Many local Joomla* enthusiasts decided that being all together was a great idea; while "virtual meetings" and forum posts are certainly a good way to make contact and achieve some progress, coming together in one location has its purpose as well, in order to make more substantive progress, and have a better understanding of both the platform and the people behind it.
Groups are forming world-wide, from Helsinki, Finland and Belgrade, Serbia to Austin, Texas, New York City and now - Chicago. The 38-member organization is taking root, setting its sites on helping spread the word that Joomla has quietly worked its way into the corporate and non-profit sectors - making some folks take notice that this CMS is worth a look-see by folks at all ends of the business spectrum.
Be sure to sign up today for the December Meeting, and get into the Loop on Joomla!
