Joomla Book by Barrie North 10 Months ago
I have, in my hot little hands, a complimentary copy of Barrie North's "Joomla! User's Guide" Published by Prentice Hall. I'll bring it with me to the next Meeting for y'all, and you can borrow it from JChicago if you like.

I know Mike Carson had a pre-release copy as well...anyone else got it? Any REVIEWS you can give yet? From what I've read thus far, it's comprehensive, and I appreciate Barrie's writing style - very understandable, even for the non-techie.

Any early reviews?

I agree with John. This book is very easy to read and understand. I've been using Joomla since the begining and Mambo before that. And I've been playing with Joomla 1.5 since the first beta release. I picked up a lot from this book and it is written from aver basic standpoint for newbies. Even if you are an experienced Joomla user you will still learn from this book. Barrie has written it very well and the book is written in a very well organized structure.

5 stars as far as I'm concerned.

I just corresponded with Barrie - be sure to put up a review on Amazon about the book!

I bought Barrie's book as well -- very good and informative read, especially for people who are new to Joomla and content management systems in general.

I purchased the book as an electronic download, and I now wish I hadn't. It's distributed as a heavily DRM'ed Acrobat file that requires a special viewer from Adobe, that locks the book to a single workstation, that doesn't work on Linux, and that is encumbered with other assorted crippleware. I don't think I will ever order an e-book like this again.
