Database question (brigding) 6 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I haven't work with databases before, but this time a client wants to hook up his db with joomla. This is the information given by him in regards to the db info:
Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere (ASA) Database (Version 9.0.2.3228)

so, this is the thing: Users are going to be created in his database and then populated in Joomla. Inside joomla no users aren't going to be created. Although they have an extense user profile, the client is going to use minimal sections of the profile, such as name, user, pw, and email.

How or where can I get information in regards to this issue? I'm getting worry time to time lol...

Thank you for your help.

I am not a database expert, but from what I am reading I have some initial comments.

1. Joomla only supports MySQL database at this time.
2. Looks like you will be running joomla as an external application from the primary application. One application using Sybase and another application using MySQL (joomla).
3. Sounds like your challenge will be writing shell scripts with sql for data exports from Sybase and imports into joomla.
4. I assume you are running on linux.
5. You may also consider adding your scripts into crontab so that they run at predefined intervals.
