Help, I Need A...

I'm guessing that your "Add This" button is a Joomla "Module." In other words, it's like a little widget that you install into your site and that can appear on all (or some) pages. (For more information on Joomla Modules, see http://docs.joomla.org/Module .)

Any Joomla Module has a couple primary characteristics, including the module's Position and its menu assignment. The Position refers to where the Module appears within the active Joomla Template's layout. The menu assignment controls on which pages of your site the Module appears. I'm guessing this is what you need to adjust to "turn off" your module on certain pages of your Web site.

To change a Module's menu assignment, first, log into the back end of your Joomla site as an administrator. Then select the Extensions > Menu Manager item in the main navigation menu. You will see a list of Modules for your Web site, including most likely one titled "Add This" or similar.

Click the Module title to go to the Module's edit screen, and scroll down a little, where you will see a "Menu Selection" area. Click the "Select Menu Item(s) from the List" radio button, and then click on individual menu items related to the pages where you want your Module to appear. (Use Control+click to select multiple menu items.) Finally, click the Save or Apply button to save the changes to your Module. You should then see the changes reflected on the front end of your site.

Working with Modules' menu assignments was one of the most confusing things I encountered when I first started working with Joomla, but it actually ends up making sense once you start to work with it.

Of course, I'm just guessing that you're referring to a Joomla Module; you may be doing something else with your site (for example, working with a Plugin). If the above doesn't make sense, or if you have more questions, post them here. Good luck!

Need help. Added an "AddThis" button to share content of my site, but the button is all over the place even on the frontpage, where I do not want it. If anyone can offer suggestions. Please I'm listening. Desperate!!!

-We’d like to have a listserv for our 200+ users (to replace a yahoogroups.com listserv) so that anyone could email to community@spiritofststephens.org and it would go to all of our participating registered users. We’d like people to be able to change their email address in their user login account and have it automatically update the listserv so there’s only one email address for each user. It would be great if users could also choose to get every email individually or in a daily digest.
-Perhaps related, we’d like to have a member directory with contact information and maybe pictures, again so that if someone changes their email address in their user login account it would automatically update the directory. Some users will choose not to be included in the directory, or with limited information

I appreciate any advice.

You know, Luis, it took me a minute or two to figure this out myself ...

In order to create a new discussion, you must be a member of the group. To join this group, click the Join link above and confirm your choice. Once you are a member of the group, you should see a "Create Discussion" link within the Discussion panel. I hope this helps!

For text editing, I use Notepad ++.

It offers color markup on the fly and not just for HTML. It correctly interprets the markup based on the file extension. If you open a CSS file, the color markup will make sense based on that. Same thing for PHP.

For WYSIWYG, why not use JCE from within Joomla? http://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/
I suppose it depends on what you're trying to do. If you're building templates, it's obviously not gonna do you much good. If you're styling content within Joomla!, it doesn't get much better IMO.
